My friend's ex doesn't want to tell her that we're friends..?

I met my friend's ex on campus and we started talking. We got pretty close the last couple of days, but I never had the chance to tell my friend. So I told "A"(friend's ex) that we should tell her. He said that its a bad idea. They're still kinda seeing each other(?) and they're on good terms... I told him that we're "just friends" so there's no reason for her to get mad at us. I asked him what he was afraid of, and he said that she's a real jealous type. I told him to either agree on telling her, or not talking to me at all. Am I being a *****? I think my friend really deserves to know...

Um of course you should tell your friend. Even if she is the jealous type they've already ended their relationship(or maybe not if he wants to hide it) . Basically this guy wants you to continue in a lie for no reason really. If you are actually friends with this girl then why not tell her?

its better to tell her before she finds out in a wrong way. all u have to do is to assure her dat u dont have anything do with him and dat u guys are just friends.
Yes your friend should know you are being deceitful by not telling her and nothing good will come of that
yeah, you should tell your friend. if she finds out some other way she might think that you were doing something bad behind her back.

and i think your friends x is acting strange. maybe its just him that doesn't wanna tell and using the excuse of your friend being jealous. (or maybe he likes you more than just friend, what do you think)
